ETHIOPIA IS A COUNTRY WHICH IS:
THE ROOF OF AFRICA: The total high land is greater than the total elevated
land in Africa. It is in Ethiopia where two extreme land features, Ras
Dashen 4620m above sea level and Danakil Depression 116 m. below sea level,
exist.
THE COUNTRY WITH 13 MONTHS OF SUNSHINE: The Ethiopian calendar having
12 months in a year with 30 equal days and a short month with 5 days and
6 days once in 4 years allows 13 months of sunshine even during the rainy
season.
THE WATER TOWER OF NORTH AND NORTH EAST AFRICA : The presence of big rivers
like Blue Nile, wabi –shebelle, Genale, Awash and Omo), many lakes ( Rift

Bahirdar, Gondar, Axum, Lalibela

7th Day: Through the twisting road of Limalimo, built by Italians during
World War II descend and ascend the Tekeze River Valley and arrival to
Axum, capital of Ethiopia from the first to the seventh Century .Overnight
in Yeha Hotel
8th Day: Visit of Axum city arcaeological sites and its churches, the
oldest once in the Ethiopian culture. Overnight in hotel.
9th Day: Transfer to a place called Yeha to visit a temple built in the
5th BC time and continue to Debre Damo Monastery(built in the 6th century
AD) where it is possible, only for men, to climb with ropes the mountain
in order to visit the church on top. Continue to Abrha Atsbha (first residence
of Christian kings of Ethiopia). Overnight Mekele in hotel.
10th Day: Drive to Lalibela. Over night Lalaibela in a hotel.
11th Day: In the morning Visit of the First group of rock hewn churches
and in the after noon visit the second group of churches. Over night hotel.
12th Day: Visit the churches out side Lalibela for full day. Over night

typical of this region.
9th day: Drive to DireDawa, commercial area where it is possible to visit
the camels market and the vegetables market. Overnight Dire Dawa in a
